Which skip size do I need?

The type of waste and how much you have will decide which skip size you need. Skip sizes are described in cubic metre (m³) dimensions: as a general rule of thumb, 1m³ is approximately equal to one standard 6×4 foot trailer, filled level to the top.

Our skip sizes also include lineal metre descriptions of the height, length and width of each. If you cannot cut up long or wide items, simply measure their length, then look at the dimensions of our skips to order the size that best suits.

Will it fit in my driveway?

Please look at our skip sizes to determine the area needed for each bin size. Remember that the roll-on roll-off bins normally require more space than skips.

Will I need council approval to leave it in the street or on a footpath?

This varies from council to council, so it is advisable to check first. Outside your property, there are certain legal responsibilities to consider: insurance, lights at night, warning barriers, etc.

What can I put in the skips and bins?

Usually, if you can pick it up, you can put it in.
There are important exceptions to remember, however.
Feel free to let us know about your proposed waste content so that we can advise you.

Please Note: These items CANNOT be placed in any skip or bin:
Chemicals or poisons, liquids or paint, explosive materials, tyres, e-waste (including televisions and computers), and uncontained, fine dusty substances.

Mattresses can be placed on top of your skip or bin for a small extra charge
(see your suburb for more details).

How should I load the bin?

Green waste: Cut into smaller pieces and place any larger, heavier pieces on top to compact load down.
Soil, rubble and bricks: This material should not go above the top of the bin.
General waste: Break down to utilise space efficiently. Once again, place light waste on the bottom and heavier waste on the top to compact everything downwards.
Please remember that before we can transport any loads, they must be safe. Our drivers can advise you, should you have any questions.

For a larger project, speak to our sales consultants about the cost benefits of sorting your loads.

Will any of my waste be recycled?

Yes. We are committed to recycling and continually seek to improve on our material recovery knowledge. Even your general waste will be recycled at the Adelaide Hills Recycling Centre, where up to 92% of general rubbish is typically recycled.

What should I do about asbestos?

Asbestos removal is a specialised area, for which we hold a current EPA Transporters Licence. Due to the nature of asbestos, special prices for disposal are available on request. We can supply a bin, but please familiarise yourself with all legal requirements regarding the removal and wrapping of asbestos waste.

If you need to, we can put you in touch with a licensed removalist.

How long can I keep the bin?

For up to eight days; negotiable rates are available for longer periods.

Does it matter where I live?

Hop, Skip and Dump deliver skips to the Adelaide Hills suburbs, while our sister skip hiring business, Waste-Away SA Skips, delivers skips and bins across Adelaide’s metropolitan suburbs and the wider SA area daily.

How do I book a skip?

To book a skip, select your suburb, complete your details, then clear the space in which you wish the skip to be placed.

How Can I Pay?

Pay for your skip using a Visa or Mastercard credit card, or electronic transfer prior to delivery of the skip.

Do skips have doors?

Most of our 6m³ and 9m³ skips do have doors, but it would be advisable to specifically request your preference at the time of ordering.

Our 2m³ and 4m³ skips do NOT have doors.
